Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris (born October 20th 1964) was an American politician, attorney, and the current vice president of United States. She is also the first vice president to be female and highest-ranking female official in U.S. History, as being the first African American and second Asian American vice president. As a part of the Democratic Party, she previously was the attorney general for California between 2011 and 2017 and as the state's attorney general from 2011 to 2017 and as a United States senator representing California from 2017 until 2021. Harris was born in Oakland. Harris received her law degree from Howard University. Following her first job as an Alameda County District Attorney Harris was hired to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. Later she became the City Attorney of San Francisco. In 2003 she was elected district attorney for San Francisco. In 2010, Harris was appointed Attorney General of California. She was re-elected in 2014. Harris was the junior member of the United States Senate from California from 2017-2021. Harris defeated Loretta Sanchez in the 2016 Senate elections to become the 2nd African American woman, and the first South Asian American, to serve as a senator in the United States Senate. Harris was a senator and was a vocal advocate for reforms to healthcare, federal cannabis de-scheduling, the possibility of citizenship for immigrants who are not legally documented as well as the DREAM Act, a ban against assault weapons, as well as progressive tax reform. The attention of the nation was drawn by her outspoken questioning of Trump administration officials at Senate sessions. The most notable was Trump's second Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh who was accused of sexual assault.
