Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran (born March 10 1949) is an American businesswoman, investor and speaker. She is also a consultant, speaker, syndicated columnist, author, and television personality. The Corcoran Group is a New York City-based real estate brokerage. In 2001, it was sold to NRT at $66 million. Corcoran quit the firm shortly after. Corcoran was one of ABC's initial Shark investors was a featured guest of each episode of Shark Tank. Corcoran has signed 53 deals as of February 2020. The biggest deal she signed was her investment of $350,000 in Coverplay with a 40% stake. Corcoran, who was the second child of 10 from a working-class Irish-Catholic family was born in Edgewater in New Jersey. Florence Corcoran's mother was an exemplary homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father through Corcoran's childhood. In times, her family relied on deliveries of free food from a friendly local grocer. Corcoran recalls that her father was an alcohol-dependent drunkard who often treated her mother with condescension and disrespect, particularly after he had been drinking. Corcoran was a struggle in school and was eventually diagnosed with dyslexia. Corcoran was educated at an Catholic elementary school, and later began high school in Englewood at St. Cecilia High School. Corcoran was fluent in several courses during her freshman year. She transferred to Leonia High School and graduated with a grade of D.
